Unmount Media
Note: requires kernel 2.4.11 or later
When you try to unmount media that is being held open by a file handle from a process, unmounting is denied. When this occurs you can perform a lazy unmount which unmounts the media immediately allowing you to "safely" remove it. References to the filesystem are cleaned up as they are ended by their respective processes.
To perform a lazy unmount use:
umount -l /dev/node
or
umount -l /mount/point
This method of unmounting is often used by certain GUI interfaces like KDE and Gnome when this trick is used
